I solve my problems and I see the light
We gotta plug and think, we gotta feed it right
There ain't no danger we can go to far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
They say high school is a sham. You go, you pretend to learn, and the only thing you really accomplish is wasting four good years on absolutely nothing. When has school ever been about studying? It's about relationships and the people you hang out with. It's about learning who you really are; it's about growing up.
They think our love is just a growing pain
Why don't they understand, It's just a crying shame
Their lips are lying only real is real
We start to find right now we got to be what we feel
Back in the day life was pretty d**n simple. School was only background noise to a bigger picture. The only thing that mattered was living life to the fullest. Anything else was just a passing fancy. It was a time of poodle skirts and sock hops; a time when being cool was everything.
We take the pressure and we throw away
Conventionality belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
You had a clique and you stuck to them like glue, never venturing far from their reach. They were your friends, your life...your future. Without them you would be nothing but a picture in the year book.
Grease is the word
Grease is the word, is the word that you heard
It's got groove it's got meaning
Grease is the time, is the place is the motion
Grease is the way we are feeling
But sometimes things got complicated and you would find yourself wondering if life really was about art, school, or being cool. Back then it was easy to lose light of who you really were. Memories aren't always forever. They fade with the passage of time. The things that mattered back then never stay the same, but if anything else, the one thing you can never forget is that Grease is the Word. It always has been, and it always will be.
